Subtitling
Subtitling is the process of superimposing written dialogue onto a
film to correspond with a spoken dialogue, sometimes in the same language
(hard of hearing subtitles) but more often in a different language.
Although translation is a major part of subtitling, it is not the
only part. We only use experienced subtitlers that have experience
in transcription (if no written script is available), translation,
adaptation for the target audience and the technical expertise to
match each subtitle to each spoken sentence. As spectators generally
read slower than they can listen, subtitlers also have to be able
to shorten the written text without losing information.
All kinds of film can be subtitled from entertainment to training,
educational to informative.
